Redstone Tail Unit |
Photos from inside a Redstone missile tail unit. Strictly speaking, this is the interior of the museum's Jupiter-C rocket in the Rocket Park, but since the Jupiter-C is just a lengthened Redstone missile with additional upper stages (and most or all of the Jupiter-Cs on display are really just production Redstone missiles fitted with extender tubes to match the extended center unit tank length of the Jupiter-C), there's really no difference between the two when viewed from the inside like this. While the USSRC's Army Redstone missile has the remains of an A-7 engine around the pole on which it's mounted, the Jupiter-C lacks an engine, and it was (just barely!) possible to squeeze inside. Due to the cramped quarters and the fact that I have photos from several other Redstone tail units, I have relatively few photos of the interior this particular missile. See my pages regarding the Redstone tail unit and Redstone center unit pages for additional information, or my other Redstone-related resources. |
