The museum displays J-2 rocket engine J-2120 on a dolly. It is the only J-2 of which
I am aware which is displayed horizontally without a metal plate over its
injector. Although the engine looks somewhat weathered, it is very complete,
including its pneumatic and electrical interfaces with the stage.
Alan Lawrie tells me
that J-2120 was formerly installed in the S-II battleship stage (an early,
non-flight article used to test stage systems) and was later assigned as
support to the ASTP program.
See my J-2-related resources.
As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures of the J-2 engine,
but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder"
version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some
time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me
an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures.
