What is displayed here is both the base suit plus a harness-and-flotation system integrated into a retainer assembly (vest) that was worn over the pressure suit. The vest is especially apparent at the suit's left shoulder and where the legs meet the torso.

While I was unable to find much information on the details of the S1030 itself, I was able to find a diagram of the distinct, yet similar, S1034 pressure suit, and am basing much of my discussion on the diagram for that suit.

Note the cables from the helmet disconnect ring for the helmet holddown (similar to the helmet tie-down strap on the Project Mercury suit).
