RL10 Engine |
The USSRC has a cut-away RL10 engine. It was displayed in the Rocket City Legacy area for some time, after which it was moved to Space Hall for a propulsion exhibit. It was later moved to the Davidson Center. This gallery contains pictures of the RL10 when it was in Rocket City Legacy and Space Hall. The RL10 was used on the Centaur, the first rocket stage powered by liquid hydrogen. Six RL10s were used on the S-IV, the Saturn I's second stage (although this is an RL10A-1, while the S-IV used the RL10A-3 variant). Also see the USSRC's RL10 thrust chamber section. The RL10 is still in production today; see Aerojet Rocketdyne's RL10 page (although the former Pratt & Whitney site had more information about it). |
