Ground-level walk-around of the combustion chamber and LOX dome.

Picture 2 of 5.

F-107-1 is displayed with no injector, offering a view of aft face of the LOX dome.

Vince Wheelock speculates that, as a test engine, this F-1 was torn down at some point in its life and when it was reassembled, the injector was not installed (and perhaps became a display piece on someone's wall).

The 16 round, silver holes about half-way out from the center of the LOX dome are for the inner-dome attach bolts which would help attach the LOX dome to the injector. Cylindrical sleeves would be attached to these holes to protect the attach bolts.

Note the missing dome sealing plugs at approximately the 5:00 and 7:00 positions, allowing light through the LOX dome.
