English Air Field

To the northeast of the museum building, adjacent to the flight line, is a control tower and two Nissen huts representing a typical WWII English air field.

The control tower is a reproduction (although it does contain an original brick from 63 actual U.S. WWII control towers); a volunteer told me that the building was approximately 2/3 scale. The Air Force Museum has a WWII 8th Air Force control tower fact sheet.

The two Nissen huts date back to the war, from a base at Debden. The Air Force Museum has a WWII Nissen hut fact sheet.

As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures of the WWII English air field, but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder" version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures.
