SA-7 Camera Capsule

Several of the later Saturn I vehicles and some of the early Saturn IB and Saturn V vehicles were fitted with ejectable camera pods, to record operational events on motion picture film. The cameras were then ejected from the stage and splashed down in the ocean, where waiting recovery teams retrieved the capsules and return the film to Marshall engineers.

The USSRC displays a camera pod recovered from the SA-7 mission.

Although I was unable to locate footage recorded by the SA-7 camera capsules, they recorded basically the same information as the previous mission, SA-6 (although Hurricane Gladys prevented recovery of five of the eight camera capsules on SA-7).
