The Letter that Changed the Way the World Flies

In 1932 a struggling airline sent several aircraft manufacturers a two page "Request for Proposal" asking for a better plane. Douglas Aircraft Co. replied by building the world's first modern airliner. The planes that grew out of this letter were the DC-1, DC-2, and the immortal DC-3.
