Delta

The KSC Visitor Center displays Delta (sometimes called a Thor-Able) in its Rocket Garden. Google Maps link.

The early Deltas consisted of a Thor missile as its first stage with an Able upper stage (the Able upper stage was a modified second stage from the Vanguard rocket, which attempted but failed to launch the first American satellite).

I visited KSC during the summers of 2004 and 2005. Hurricane Frances visited KSC in September 2004, knocking the Able upper stage off of the Delta. This was not repaired until December 2005, so I have photos of the Delta both with and without its upper stage.
