The Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City NY is about 20 minutes away from the historic Grumman Bethpage plant. I'd done some research as to which buildings at the Bethpage plant were used during LM construction and planned to do a drive-by of the Grumman plant, but a flat tire greeted us as we returned to the parking lot after visiting the Cradle, causing us to abort that extra trip. (Interestingly enough, the exact spot from which Charles Lindbergh took off on his trans-Atlantic flight lies between the Cradle and the garage recommended by one of the staff members; it is now the site of a TGI Friday's restaurant.) Here's the Google Maps aerial coverage of the museum. As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures from the Cradle of Aviation, but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder" version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures. | ||||||||||||||||
