Apollo Command Module CM-002

CM-002 was the first production Apollo command module to be launched, on the A-004 mission atop a Little Joe II booster. (The first production CM to fly on a Saturn rocket was CM-009, on AS-201; it's currently located at the Strategic Air & Space Museum).

Additional information about the A-004 mission can be found in the Postlaunch Report for Apollo Mission A-004 (Spacecraft 002).

The Project Apollo Archive Apollo Image Gallery has three photos of CM-002:

  • S65-19886: Apollo spacecraft CSM-002 atop a Little Joe II launch vehicle at White Sands Missile Range
  • 66-H-24A: Launch of Apollo Intermediate Altitude Abort from White Sands Missile Range, carrying Apollo CSM-002
  • 66-H-24B: Recovery of Apollo CSM-002 after Apollo Intermediate Altitude Abort from White Sands Missile Range

This spacecraft is Smithsonian catalog ID #A19740942000.

As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures of CM-002, but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder" version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures.
