View of the S-IVB's thrust structure.

Picture 1 of 3.

The J-2 rocket engine was mounted to conical thrust structure. The thrust structure transmitted engine thrust to the aft skirt, which in turn transmitted the thrust to the propellant tank walls.

The liquid hydrogen (LH2) feed line and ambient helium spheres were also mounted to the thrust structure.
