S-IC Y-Ring

A display features two segments of Y-rings.

A Y-ring was incorporated into both the forward and aft ends of both the fuel and oxidizer tank walls on the Saturn V S-IC first stage to provide a means by which the propellant tanks could be joined to the other stage structures. The base of the Y-ring was welded to the tank wall. The straight Y-ring leg was bolted to the thrust structure, intertank structure, or forward skirt, as appropriate. The curved leg was welded to the tank bulkhead.
