Lunar Module Mission Simulator |
The Lunar Module Mission Simulator was used to train the astronauts for most aspects of the mission involving the Lunar Module. During the Apollo era, the LMS was surrounded by display screens to provide a photo-realistic field of view to the astronauts. Engineers at the instructor station introduced anomalies for the astronauts in the LM Mission Simulator to solve. There were two Lunar Module Mission Simulators built; one was located at the Manned Spacecraft Center (today the Johnson Space Center) and the other at the Kennedy Space Center. Today the other is at the Cradle of Aviation. Today the LMMS is housed in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration; these are older photos from when the LMMS was housed in Space Hall (i.e., in the "old" museum). |
