Space Shuttle Main Engine: SSME

When a Space Shuttle lifts off the launch pad it does so with the help of three reusable high-performance rocket engines. The Space Shuttle Main Engines (SSMEs) provide thrust in conjunction with two Solid Rocket Boosters (SRBs) during launch.

Propellant: Liquid Oxygen/Liquid Hydrogen
Mixture ratio: 6:1
Weight: 6,990 lb
