At one time, the Rocket Park was graced with three stand-alone rocket engine displays: An F-1, a J-2, and a Lunar Module Descent Propulsion System (DPS) engine. By 2004, the J-2 had undergone a refurbishment and, while still outdoors, was in a protected area next to the building. By 2005 (when the restoration of the Saturn V began), the J-2 and DPS engines were removed from the Rocket Park and shortly thereafter the J-2 and a DPS engines reappeared in Space Hall, the the main gallery of the "old" museum. After the Davidson Center opened, the J-2 and DPS engines found a new home there. Only the F-1 remains outdoors today, although, in conjunction with the reconstruction of the Rocket Park culminating in the summer of 2024, it was relocated to Apollo Court in front of the Davidson Center. | |||||||
