DPS Engine

After moving indoors from its previous home in the Rocket Park, the Lunar Module Descent Propulsion System (DPS) engine spent some time in Space Hall in the "old" museum (next to the Lunar Module Ascent Propulsion System engine and the Lunar Module itself) before being moved to the Davidson Center.

Initially, the DPS engine remained on its dolly and was displayed in an open area near the Lunar Module. Later, it was moved to inside the "rocket stage" at the forward end of the swing arm. Even later, it was placed inside of a protective fish bowl and returned to near its original location, allowing 360° access. I have photos here from all three locations.

This engine is Smithsonian catalog #A19751447000.

Read more about the DPS in my Mechanical Design of the Lunar Module Descent Engine or the Apollo Experience Report: Descent Propulsion System.

As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures of the Descent Propulsion System engine, but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder" version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures.
