Apollo Fuel Cell (Space Hall) |
|
The Apollo mission was too long to rely on batteries for power. Instead, the Service Module housed three fuel cells. Fed by liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen tanks, the fuel cell combined the hydrogen and oxygen, creating electrical power and water. The water was used for drinking and for reconstituting dehydrated food. This fuel cell was relocated to the Davidson Center. |
