Agena B

The Agena was used as an upper stage on Thor and Atlas launch vehicles (see the Thor-Agena at the Air Force Museum and the Atlas-Agena at Kennedy Space Center).

Two of its more memorable applications were to launch the Corona spy satellites (a Corona film return capsule is displayed nearby) and (in its D model) for use as a docking target for Project Gemini. Gemini 8 made the world's first docking between two spacecraft using an Agena-D docking target. See my info page for additional information on the various models of the Agena upper stages.
