Stud and frangible nut used to secure the launch escape tower to the command module.

The accompanying sign reads

Explosive bolt used to secure the escape tower to the Apollo X Command Module, "Charlie Brown," during launch.

See my Apollo launch escape system page for additional information and an exploded-view (no pun intended!) diagram of the stud and nut.

I think that it was a really good trick for Stafford to retrieve the actual stud and nut used to connect the Apollo 10 CM to its LES, as the tower and BPC was jettisoned at about 295,000 feet!
