Detail of the front of the suit's neck ring.

The rectangular, front part of the neck ring is labeled "Assy 6356" and "sn-1202" (or perhaps "12C2"). The label on the wedge-shaped part at the right begins with "Assy A6L-". The white lettering at approximately 4:00 says "Use with red helmet ring only."

The model of suit used for the earlier Apollo flights was the "A7L" (to be replaced by the "A7LB" suits on later flights). This designation indicates that it is the seventh suit design for the Apollo program ("A7"), and that the vendor for the suit is International Latex ("L").

Although I've seen the A6L neck ring on other suits as well, I still find it somewhat odd that an A7L suit would have a neck ring from an A6L suit. Of course, it may well be that the neck ring needed no modifications between the A6L and A7L, and it would have been more trouble than it was worth to change the part number.
