The months of preparation and fit tests culminated on May 13, 2008 when the
engines were finally installed in front of Building 4200.
The engines were trucked from their staging location behind Building 4205 to the prepared
concrete pad with throat supports in front of Building 4200.
In addition to the F-1 and J-2 which we've repeatedly seen during preparations,
a Space Shuttle Main Engine
(SSME), located on an engine handler, was also placed on display.
The Marshall Star, Marshall Space Flight Center's newspaper,
had
a story about the engines' installation.
