Launch Complex 14

The "Then and Now" bus tour drives past LC-14, site the manned Mercury-Atlas flights. The pad is not easily visible from the bus tour, but I have photos of the sign and Project Mercury Monument.

The monument, which the tour guide said was made of the same material as the Atlas missile, was dedicated on November 10, 1964 (the last Mercury mission, MA-9, which launched Gordon Cooper in Faith 7, was launched on May 15, 1963).

The monument was featured in a famous sunset photo.

Aerial view.

There's a similar monument at the Space Walk of Fame.

I've also included a few photos of near-by Launch Complex 13, which also launched Atlas missiles.
