View of the hypergol manifold inlet.

The F-1 had a hypergol cartridge, which held the chemical mixture which was used to actually initiated combustion. The fluid passed from the hypergol cartridge, through the bellowed line (which was normally covered with a metal braid) seen here, and to the hypergol manifold inside the injector.
