Detail of the two upper-left panels on the right side of the console. The blue stickers at the left of the consoles read "Rockwell International" and then something that looks like "STSOC NASA 18000." North American Aviation (the contractor for the S-II stage and the CSM) merged with Rockwell Standard Corp. on September 22, 1967 to become North American Rockwell and NAR changed its name to Rockwell International in February 1973, so not all of "this console" was first used to control the Gemini 4 mission in June 1965. It's possible that this part of the console was used during Skylab or ASTP, but it seems more likely that the Rockwell International stickers date to the early Shuttle days. The fourth button from the left in the second row in the top panel is the Mission Control console push button which is used on the main page of this Website. | ||||
