THE FREEDOM FORUM
The Freedom Forum
is a nonprofit, nonpartisan international foundation dedicated to free press,
free speech and free spirit for all people. In the United States, the
foundation focuses on the five freedoms guaranteed in the First Amendment to
the U.S. Constitution, but places special emphasis on the free press and other
issues related to the news media. Around the world The Freedom Forum promotes
free expression and development of an independent news media. As a trustee of
The Freedom Forum and the First Amendment Center, Alan B. Shepard Jr. shared
the foundation's devotion to a free press. He was not only a valued trustee,
but a friend to the many people he touched. Alan Shepard will be remembered
for his space exploration. But his legacy includes his commitment to freedom
around the world.
