Barksdale Global Power Museum (Formerly the 8th Air Force Museum)

The Barksdale Global Power Museum (which was named the "8th Air Force Museum" when I visited, so you'll find remnants of that name in various URLs on this Website) is located just inside the gate of Barksdale Air Force Base, near Shreveport, Louisiana.

There is a small building featuring exhibits and a gift shop, as well as an outdoor display area with planes ranging from World War II fighters and bombers to Cold War bombers and an SR-71 Blackbird.

The airpark is near one end of the Air Force base's runway. As the visitor walks from plane to plane, it was not uncommon for B-52s to come in on their final approach and land a short distance from the airpark. B-52s frequently took off at the opposite end of the runway, although the actual take-off was blocked by a hangar. There were numerous overflights of A-10 Warthogs, presumably flying combat air patrol.

As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures of the Barksdale Global Power Museum, but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder" version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures.
