SR-71

Just north of the museum building is an SR-71, tail number 61-7967. This particular aircraft was taken out of service after Congress shut the SR-71 program down in 1990, only to realize that there was nothing in the U.S. arsenal which could replace the capabilities of the SR-71. Realizing its mistake, Congress restored funding and this aircraft was one which was brought out of mothballs to fly again.

Aerial view.

As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures of the SR-71, but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder" version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures.
