A skin panel made of a different material above the aft landing gear.
I knew that B-47s were designed to accommodate JATO (jet-assisted take off)
rockets, as early jet engines did not provide sufficient power to accelerate
the plane to take-off velocity in a reasonable distance.
I took this photo in case I would later be able to associate it with the B-47's JATO rockets. Although
this panel is where early versions of the B-47 had a JATO panel and I found a
clip regarding JATO safety showing a similar-looking panel
above the landing gear, I was unable to determine why the panel is made
of a different material.
