White Room

The white room, located on swing arm 9 on the Apollo Launch Umbilical Tower (LUT), is used by the crew to access the Command Module.

This white room is complete with the shell of a command module, two suited astronauts with portable oxygen ventilators, and a suit tech. The visitor can stand in the CM and watch as his crewmates prepare to enter the command module.

The USSRC was in the last stages of installing their white room in early July 2010. During my visit, I saw a work crew removing the last of the tools and equipment used to prepare the exhibit.

I've prepared a page with diagrams of the white room, or you can read the Apollo/Saturn 5 - Launch Complex 39, Mobile Launcher Service Arms, Operations and Maintenance Technical Manual.
