All of the testing S-II stages, including S-II-F/D, and the first seven flight stages used external honeycomb insulation to insulate the LH₂ tank.

This photo was taken after a preliminary round of restoration had been performed on the Saturn V, but before the final painting of the stage (including re-adding the UNITED STATES to the tank wall).
