A part of the LOX sump, visible behind the center engine and its support beams.

Picture 2 of 3.

The LOX sump is at the center of the aft end of the LOX tank bulkhead. On a flight stage, the sump would have distributed liquid oxygen to the five J-2 engines. However, this is the facilities checkout and dynamic test stage, so it did not have a functional LOX sump. There are, however, circular bosses where the LOX feed ducts would have been.

Part of one of the LOX feed line mass simulators is visible at lower right.

The sump was also used to fill and drain the LOX tank; part of the LOX fill/drain line is visible at upper left.
