Overall view of the intertank structure.
The intertank structure joined the RP-1 (fuel) tank (at left) to the liquid oxygen (LOX) tank (at right). The domes of these two tanks extended into the intertank structure. Each propellant tank had a Y-ring welded into the cylindrical portion of the tank, allowing the tank to be bolted to the intertank.
