Hydrogen peroxide from this 76-gallon tank was fed to the steam generator, which contained potassium permanganate pellets to decompose the hydrogen peroxide into steam. The resultant hot gases were used to drive the turbopumps providing alcohol and liquid oxygen to the combustion chamber. Exhaust gases were then routed to the heat exchanger and steam duct. | ||||
