Overall view of the gas generation subsystem.

At center (with the open flange) is the teardrop-shaped liquid propellant gas generator. The LPGG is basically an inefficient rocket engine, producing hot gases to spin the turbopump's turbine.

The LPGG attaches to the turbine.

To the left of the turbine is the turbine exhaust hood, which redirects the turbine exhaust gases to the heat exchanger (not installed on this H-1).
