Cernan's Apollo 17 Suit

The museum displays an Apollo A7LB spacesuit with commander's stripes and an Apollo 17 mission patch, implying that it's one of Gene Cernan's suits (each astronaut was assigned a flight spacesuit, used only on the actual flight; a training suit; and a backup suit).

However, the suit is displayed with a LRV replica, and it has what appears to be a pressure relief valve located on the left wrist. While it is true that the earlier A7L had its relief valve on the left wrist, the A7LB had this valve relocated to the right thigh.

A7LB suits had the suit's pressure gauge relocated from the right wrist on the A7L suit to the left wrist. Indeed, Cernan's Apollo 17 suit worn on the lunar surface does show a pressure gauge on the left wrist.

Like the LRV, I suspect this suit is a reproduction, rather than an actual Apollo suit.

I have a number of resources regarding the Apollo spacesuit.
