Friendship 7's "nose art." The design was painted on the spacecraft by artist Cece Bibby, the only woman to enter the Project Mercury whiteroom; John Glenn created quite the controversy by requesting that a woman paint the logo onto the spacecraft.

The logo has faded significantly over the years. It was bright and bold before the launch. The mission itself caused a good deal of fading, and time has done the rest.
