The top of the re-entry control system section. The device at the top is a "Pyrotechnic Switch Assy", although I'm uncertain as to what its specific function was. Pyrotechnics were used to deploy the parachute and jettison the rendezvous and recovery section, although one might expect those pyrotechnics to be located in the R & R section proper.
