This is a relatively low-fidelity mockup, lacking much equipment (e.g., I don't see a television camera) and being equipped with low-fidelity vernier rocket engines (gold cones near the base of each leg). That being said, the crushable blocks at the base of each leg and the crushable pads on the bottom of each leg's footpad are fairly convincing.

Note the Soil Mechanics/Surface Sampler (aka "scoop arm") extended at approximately the 8:00 position.
