Surface Sampler experiment discovered pebbles at 6 inches and 10 PSI bearing strength. The spacecraft returned 6315 photographs.

The Apollo 12 crew famously landed a short distance from Surveyor III, visited the spacecraft on the lunar surface, and returned its television camera and Surface Sampler scoop.
