Apollo Heat Shield

The museum displayed a piece of ablated Apollo heat shield behind Apollo 9.

Although the signage indicated that it was from Apollo 9, based on the Smithsonian information linked below, it is actually from CM-009, which flew on the AS-201 mission.

After the Michigan Space and Science Center closed, this artifact was transferred to the Air Zoo. I saw this artifact in storage at the Air Zoo a couple of times, most recently in 2015 (although I have no photos of it there).

This artifact is Smithsonian catalog #A19731423003.
