Detail of the downward-facing elbow on the injector.

Picture 2 of 4.

This elbow tapped gaseous hydrogen off from the injector to refill the engine's start tank. Approximately 60 seconds of mainstage engine operation are required to recharge the start tank.

During my 2013 visit, the elbow's opening was covered with tape, but the weather had removed this closure prior to my 2014 visit.
