Note the coil which was welded between the two walls, forcing the fuel to circulate through the resulting spiral passage. This increased velocity of the fuel, resulting in higher heat absorption. Note that the distance between the coils is maller around the throat; the hottest portion of the thrust chamber; the smaller spiral passages around the throat resulted in increased local cooling velocity and improved local heat absorption.
