LM-9

Hanging from the ceiling of the Saturn V Center is LM-9. LM-9 was originally slated for Apollo 15, which would have been an "H" mission, a two-EVA mission like Apollos 12-14. However, as funding was cut and the number of Apollo missions were reduced, the existing Apollo 15 was eliminated, and the remaining missions were renumbered accordingly (strictly speaking, Apollos 18, 19, and 20 were not cut; rather, Apollos 20, 15, and 19 were actually cut). The "new" Apollo 15 would be the first "J" mission and would introduce the lunar roving vehicle, originally slated for Apollo 16. "J" missions required upgraded lunar modules, so Apollo 15 used LM-10, rendering LM-9 obsolete.

As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures of LM-9, but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder" version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures.
