Sokol Suit

The visitor center displayed Shannon Lucid's Sokol suit from her 1996 trip to the Mir space station.

The Sokol (Russian for "falcon") suit is a pressure suit (similar to the American Project Mercury suit), designed to be a backup should the spacecraft lose pressure. It is not designed for EVAs (the Russian EVA suit is called the Orlan suit).
