Detail of the fiberglass filament winding construction of the engine bell. This engine and the engine at Cernan are painted white, but the winding is still readily visible. The engine at the USSRC and the thrust structure at the Michigan Space & Science Center are gold-colored, presumably the color of the raw material. The engine at the National Air & Space Museum seems to be covered with some sort of tape, hiding the fibrous appearance. | ||||
