Engine #4. Picture 1 of 4. The B-24A used Pratt & Whitney R-1830-33 engines, which were less powerful than the engines used by the later models of B-24; they also had round engine cowlings. The engines were later upgraded to turbo-supercharged R-1830-41 engines starting with the XB-24B, which introduced the more familiar elliptical cowlings. Looking at this picture, you'd almost think it was a B-17 :-) | ||||
