Destination Moon

I visited the Destination Moon tour toward the end of its run at the St. Louis Science Center.

There could be no doubt that the Destination Moon tour was visiting the SLSC: The windows on the freeway side of the building had a huge sign announcing its presence, there were banners hanging from the light poles in the parking lot, there were sandwich boards on the sidewalk from the parking lot to the main entrance, there were "table tents" on the ticketing and information desks, there were signs sprinkled about the walkways in the museums, and many staff members were wearing "Destination Moon" T-shirts. Destination Moon was definitely in town!

The SLSC added a number of "introductory" groupings, prior to any actual space artifacts. Outside of the gallery in which the tour was installed was a display with a couple of imagined 1960s storefronts, as if one were walking around a small town square. The exhibits antechamber featured an imagined 1960s living room in the midst of a lunar landing viewing party (although I was born in the late 1960s and I've never seen a television quite like the one in the display).
