Actuator assembly for the air rudders and jet vanes; both the air rudders and the jet vanes were driven by the same actuator and turned simultaneously. It would appear that the air rudders are mounted on the shaft at the center of the gear, and the jet vanes are controlled below the end frame.

During the first portion of the missile's flight, it was controlled by four carbon jet vanes located within the engine exhaust. When the missile reached a velocity sufficient for it to become aerodynamically stable, four air rudders located at equidistant points around the outside of the tail section took over the control function.
