Apollo 11 Hand Casts

Spacesuit gloves had to be custom-tailored for each individual astronaut so that the final product fit like, well, fit like a glove.

The process involved making casts of the astronauts hands. From these, glove molds were created. From there, a rubber pressure bladder glove was created, which was then incorporated into a finished glove.

It's unclear how many such hand casts were made, or whether these are the first-generation casts or reproductions. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center has a similar Apollo 11 hand casts permanent display; I saw both displays during the same visit to the Center.
